Scott Best, Technical Director, Anti-Counterfeiting, Rambus Cryptography Research

Scott Best is the Technical Director of Anti-Counterfeiting with Rambus Cryptography Research, located in San Francisco, CA. He has been with Rambus since 1998, focusing on the areas of integrated circuit design, advanced signaling, next-generation memory systems, 2.5/3D packaging, random-number generators, and anti-counterfeiting technology.

A graduate of Cornell University, he has been working in the semiconductor field for more than twenty-five years, and is a named inventor on over ninety-five issued patents.

Agenda:

  • Speaker introduction
  • Why is gold, well, gold?
  • What is money?
  • What is Bitcoin and why can it be used like money?
  • Q&A (5 mins)

3:00 to 3:15 pm - 15 minute break between workshop & talk

CAD Design Workshop #2:

 3:15-5pm

For First-time Attendees

  • Basic CAD functions to model structures
  • Part files vs. assembly files vs. construction files
  • Navigating around and implementing pictures as outlines
  • Textures and materials identifying cost/specifications of structures built
  • Proper dimensions and scaling

For return attendees, we will work on more complex CAD model design eg. a house.

Where: The View Teen Center, Rengstorff Room, 263 Escuela Avenue, Mountain View

When: August 12, 2 to 5 pm

Who: MVLA Scholars, Students interested in tech fields

Cost: Free

Prerequisites: No previous experience necessary. 

Workshop Materials:
